My work focuses on identity and its absence, focusing on its unstable and performative nature. Is identity real or is it a social construct? That is the question I ask myself pretty often and it motivates many of my works. My aim is to explore the complexities of selfhood. So I put myself in the shoes of strangers that I have never met. I imagine the way they go about life, the feelings they experience, their passions and even their ‘red-flags’. By shifting roles and perspectives, I link identity to themes of crisis, rebellion, performance and intimacy through my image-making.
